PROVANOL SR-60 Tablet contains propranolol, a non-selective beta-blocker.
It is primarily prescribed to manage hypertension (high blood pressure), angina (heart-related chest pain), and irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias).
Also used for hypertrophic subaortic stenosis (a disorder involving thickening of the heart muscle), prevention of migraine, reduction of essential tremors, and management of symptoms caused by excess thyroid hormone (thyrotoxicosis).
Functions by blocking the effects of stress hormones (adrenaline and noradrenaline), reducing heart rate, relaxing blood vessels, and subsequently lowering blood pressure.
Improves blood flow to the heart and brain, helping to prevent heart attacks and stroke.
May be used in combination with other antihypertensive medications.
