Rexipra 5 Tablet is primarily used for the management of depression (major depressive episodes) and anxiety disorders, including panic disorder (with or without agoraphobia), social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
It is also sometimes used for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The active ingredient, Escitalopram, is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that works by altering the levels of certain brain chemicals (serotonin) to elevate mood and relieve anxiety and tension.
The tablet can be taken with or without food as directed by the doctor.
Dosing is individualized and may start at a lower amount, gradually increased by the physician.
Do not alter or abruptly stop the medication without consulting your doctor due to risk of withdrawal symptoms.
